This print is based on a photograph of Otto Lilienthal, ready to take-off from a cliff.
He is a German pioneer of the aviation, he did more than 500 flight in the early 1800's.
On top of the plate is his quote:
"To invent an airplane is nothing. To build one is something. But to fly is everything."

Etching is an intaglio printmaking process, using a cooper plate and etch it in acid.
The aquatint process is the second step to achieve the half tones.
Hand pulled printed and signed on a premium BFK Rives paper.Some imperfections are part of the printmaking process, each print is unique and may be slightly different from the image posted on this website.
